  • Former Kameme FM presenter, Njogu Wa Njoroge, has conceded defeat after losing in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominations for the Njoro parliamentary seat.

Through his official Facebook page, the popular vernacular radio presenter congratulated the incumbent Member of Parliament, Charity Kathambi, and promised to work with her to ensure she wins in the August 9 polls.

The former radio presenter, who was making his debut in elective politics, appreciated his supporters, noting that he respects the decision of the Njoro electorate.

“Our ambition, vision, and dream for Njoro has been overtaken by a better vision. We are satisfied,” Njoroge wrote on his Facebook page.

“I wish Hon Charity Kathambi all the best. May God use you to make the lives of Njoro people better.”

UDA has, however, not released the official results on the exercise. The presenter parted ways with Kameme FM joined Deputy President William Ruto’s party after his contract was terminated by his employer.

He intimated that he was notified of the termination of his contract via a phone call by the station’s management.

“I received a phone call from the Programs Controller, who asked me not to report to work, permanently,” Njoroge revealed.

He argued that his contract was ended pre-maturely because of his political inclinations.

“It is because of my affiliations, nothing else. I would have resigned to go and concentrate on politics.”

Meanwhile, DP Ruto – in a Thursday night, April 14 presser – admitted that the primaries suffered some hitches just like any other exercise, but remained steadfast in assuring his supporters that the primaries were free and fair.

Ruto assured the contestants that all disputes would be resolved fairly. He also lauded stakeholders who were involved in the entire exercise.

The DP said the exercise would be undertaken afresh in polling stations that suffered disruptions due to one reason or the other.

“There are areas which were postponed, NEB chairman has already informed the media and they have the decision that all areas that were postponed will not be done Friday or Saturday, it will be done on Tuesday,” he said.

“That is to ensure that the necessary preparations are made, new ballots are printed and new materials are prepared to make sure the process goes on smoothly.â€
