President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday, September 13, stepped out of the State House for the final time to head to Kasarani stadium ahead of the inauguration ceremony.
This marked Uhuru’s final hours as president before handing over the instruments of power to William Ruto. Flanked by the First Lady, Margaret Kenyatta, the two bid farewell to the staff before proceeding to the motorcade. In particular, the duo got in a Mercedes Benz S 600 Pullman Guard, trailed by the convoy.
The German machine is praised for its high ballistic protection level that is second to none. Among the powerful politicians who own the model include Russia’s Vladimir Putin and North-Korea’s Kim Jong Un.

The Mercedes S class is regarded as an Explosive Resistant Vehicle as the model’s bodywork and windows are bulletproof.
Aside from bullets, the car can withstand rocket-propelled grenades. This is enabled by a polycarbonate coating fitted inside the windows that repel bullets at close range.
The car also has a safety reinforcement feature that enables the vehicle to continue driving while still under attack.
The tyres are fitted with steel rings to ensure they don’t slip off should a flat-tyre incident occur. The run-flat technology ensures the car can manage a getaway despite having a flat tyre.
The fuel tank is also coated with a special material to prevent leakage automatically if it is hit. This type of material is also used by attack helicopters.
Fitted with a twin-turbocharged V12 engine with 530 brake horsepower, the Mercedes S 600 can maintain a top speed of 160 kilometre per hour.
