“She died while the burial plans were still underway,” a family member told kenyagist.com in confidence.
Omondi’s grandmother did not live to see his grandson’s burial which took place on Friday, March 6.
The lawmaker reportedly died in a hotel while on a benchmarking trip that saw members of the Kiambu County Assembly Education Committee embark on a trip to India.
While addressing the mourners during the burial, Omondi’s mother, a fishmonger, stated that she had forgiven anyone who might have plotted to kill her son.
“As a catholic, I wouldn’t know how to go before the Lord with a heavy heart and so I want to say that I forgive anyone who may have not meant well for my son,” she stated during his requiem mass on March 4, 2020.
On his part, former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo promised to take care of Omondi’s wife and children.
“Governor Nyoro (current Kiambu Governor James Nyoro), it’s not hard for us to ensure that the wife lands a job. That’s possible. I will also pay school fees for his children as he was my friend,” Kabogo stated.
Further, Kabogo who suspected foul play in the MCA’s death castigated the perpetrators.
Omondi was buried on Friday in a ceremony attended by various leaders including ODM Leader Raila Odinga and former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
