Bus Full of Students Overturns

According to reports, the students of Thurgem Secondary School were rushed to nearby health facilities for medical attention.

The students are reported to have sustained different degrees of injuries. 

By the time of going to press, the exact cause of the accident had not been established even as police moved in to conduct preliminary investigations.

The police also moved to the scene to contain the crowd that had gathered to witness and rescue the students.

This incident comes just months after another school bus of Gititu mixed secondary in Murang’a was involved in a road accident after the bus they were travelling in overturned.

Reports indicated that several students were left with nursing injuries as the bus overturned just minutes after departing from the school.

The tragic incident was confirmed by Makuyu police boss Alexander Shikondi detailing that the bus driver perished in the accident.

The police boss further indicated that the bus lost control at a sharp corner making it overturn with students on board.

This comes just days after National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) mulled plans to introduce a new system to target all motorists.

NTSA noted that the system is aimed at harmonising and synchronising the digital system under Transport Integrated Management System to provide relevant information regarding all vehicles.
