  • The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Secretariat has announced that it will move to the Supreme Court to challenge the Court of Appeal’s decision that annulled the bill.

Speaking at BBI Secretariat offices in Nairobi, Suna East MP Junet Mohamed stated that there were many contradictions in both the High Court and Court of Appeal’s ruling that would create confusion and legal chaos in the country if left unsolved.

He added that Kenyans deserved clarity on why the courts would deny the bill that was supported by more than four million people.

He affirmed that both the High Court and the Court of Appeal failed to appreciate the delicate balance needed.

“We need the highest court in the land to pronounce itself on the matter,” Junet stated.

The move contradicts an earlier statement made by ODM Leader Raila Odinga that they would not challenge the decision made by the appellate court.
