  • Fashion was at play at the Bomas of Kenya earlier today during the launch of the highly anticipated BBI report.

The launch was attended by the political class, government officials and the general public most of whom made unmistakable fashion statements.

From the arrival of guests early in the morning, it was evident that the popular look of the day was a clean formal look.

President Uhuru Kenyatta who is known for his colorful shirts, instead traded them for a well fitted suit. The Deputy President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila odinga all went for a neat suit look like many members of parliament, government officials and attending guests.

Some leaders like Embakasi East MP Babu Owino made a show stopping entrance in a mustard jacket alongside politician Ali Noor.

They both donned statement cowboy hats branded BBI, a clear show of their unwavering support to the initiative.

Being an event of national importance, it was crowned with different police instrumentalists in full gear, a way to honour the affairs of the day. Different choirs dressed in African attire performed patriotic songs as a way to demonstrate peace and unity.

The African regalia was seen at different corners, representing the diversity in culture well fitted for an occasion that is about uniting the country.

A Performance by local gospel artist Rufftone dressed in an African shirt went perfectly with his renowned song Mungu baba, a song which shuns hatred and advocates for unity and love.

An important part of today’s look was the much needed masks that every guest was required to wear to aid in the prevention of the Covid-19 virus that has recently hit a second wave in the country.

The masks ranged from surgical masks to washable masks and N95 masks.

With the long awaited BBI launch now behind us the main message of the colorful event is unifying the country and honoring what our national anthem stands for peace, love and unity.
