  • The Anglican Church of Kenya wants President Uhuru’s governmentĀ to extensively reduce borrowing and imposing of high taxes on its citizens.

Ole Sapit spoke while at the farewell ceremony for the retiring Southern Nyanza ACK Bishop James Ochiel held on Sunday, October 13 at Homa-Bay Primary School.

Olesapit stated that most of the borrowed funds end up in individual pockets as proceeds of corruption.

Kenyan MPs gave the executive the green light to borrow up to Ksh9 trillion.

“We worry when we continue to go into higher debt at the expense of the peopleĀ because that will kill the ability of poor people to grow from one level to the other,” the bishop added.

Ole Sapit also argued that it would be better if the borrowed funds were effectively utilised in spurring development projects instead of thining out through corruption.

The Archbishop also lauded the Catholic church for barring politicking in churches as reported by Citizen Digital.

The move by the Catholic church drew the admiration of Ethics and Anti-corruption CEO Twalib Mbarak.

Earlier on, Ole Sapit had banned political harambees in the evangelical church.

His decision was however resisted by other Anglican bishops who protested arguing that it would be a difficult move to implement.

James Maria Wainaina, the catholic bishop of Muranga stopped harambees driven by politicians in his diocese after Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and nominated MP Maina Kmanda engaged in a tiff.
