Kandara Member of Parliament Alice Wahome on Saturday, May 30, accused Murang’a County Commander Josephat Kinyua of raiding a store where she had kept food donations.

In a statement seen by kenyagist.com the Inua Mama chairperson condemned the act, stating that she had stored 500 Kg of maize flour for distribution to her constituents, under the Alice Wahome Foundation.

“This morning, the County Commander Murang’a County raided a store where I had kept 500 kg Maize floor for 100 families that I was unable to distribute yesterday due to time. I distributed 14,500 kg to 2,900 families yesterday.

“This action was malicious and an attempt by deep State using Government officers to frustrate my work in the constituency,” she stated.

The Jubilee legislator has also roped in Murang’a Health CEC Joseph Mbai in the scandal, accusing him of interference while ‘her people’ continue to suffer from adverse economic effects of Covid-19.

Wahome wondered why the commander was keen on stopping her donations instead of facilitating distribution process.

“My question is because there are so many families that are going without food in Kandara and elsewhere and we have created through Parliament a Covid-19 Response Fund why don’t these agents of Interior and coordination and Devolution Ministries keep themselves busy by distributing food to Kenyans instead of following my small efforts of feeding my constituents,” she stated.

The MP further affirmed that she had emerged victorious, and would not let anyone in the executive arm of the government to hinder her developmental agenda for the people of Kandara.

“They tried to Stop the function and failed. I will resist all efforts of the Executive to give directions to me or direct my activities because my mandate comes from the people,” she stated.

Wahome had embarked on distributing 15 tonnes of maize flour, decontaminants and facial masks to over 3,000 vulnerable families across Kandara Constituency.

She is among Lawmakers who have taken up the role of distributing food to needy households.
