  • Kandara Member of Parliament, Alice Kandara, has allayed fears over a fallout in the newly formed alliance between Deputy President William Ruto and Musalia Mudavadi.

While appearing in an interview on Citizen TV on Wednesday, February 2, Wahome insisted that Ruto and Mudavadi enjoy a cordial relationship and share similar ideologies.

She stated that reports of fallout were orchestrated by their rivals who were hellbent on propagating that United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and Amani National Congress (ANC) disagreed over a coalition agreement.

She also clarified the demands fronted to Ruto by Mt Kenya politicians. Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua and other Central Kenya politicians have constantly reiterated that Ruto promised to back one of them as his running mate.

“There is no problem and that is not a priority for UDA. Even right now they (Mt Kenya politicians) think that Musalia will be chosen as DP. The region does not need a presidency right now.

“We ought to think more about reviving our economy than which positions are available to share,†she stated.

She added that they would agree on seats and power distribution after crafting their manifesto and getting views from the public.

“I don’t think he (Ruto) has that kind of insecurity and discussions centred around power sharing formulas will be done because these are constitutional offices that need to be filled.

“We have not shared any positions and we shall not talk about that at this time until we are able to factor in different aspects concerning economic blocks in the country,†Wahome asserted.

Wahome also explained that Mudavadi would not leave the coalition to support former Prime Minister Raila Odinga citing previous betrayals and fallout.

“They are waiting to see our union collapse. That will not happen. These people (ODM) are very inconsiderate and they mistreated Musalia and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula.

Wahome asserted that they were stronger after Mudavadi joined them and this boosted their aspirations of winning the presidency without a run-off.

“You can not write off Musalia unless you are out of your mind. We just came from Bungoma and the havoc we have caused to ODM is irreversible,” they stated.

“We are planning to win the election in the first round. with or without partners because Kenyans are our first partners,†she declared.
