A well-placed source in KANU has disclosed that there are ongoing discussions on how Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and Opposition chief Raila Odinga will work together during the 2022 General Election.

Tiaty MP William Kamket said that an alliance between Mr. Odinga and Moi could happen before the polls.

Speaking during KANU branch officials meeting in Nairobi, Kamket said that the party wants to field Mr. Moi as a presidential candidate.

“We are in deep discussions with ODM, Wiper, ANC and a section of the Jubilee Party that will not be fielding a presidential candidate in 2022.

“We are having structured conversations with like-minded political parties. The discussions are deep and they are going on. I want to assure KANU supporters that the future is very bright,” he said.

The legislator added that KANU had suffered a major setback by not fielding a presidential candidate in the three previous elections.

This comes a month after the former Prime Minister visited retired President Daniel Moi at his Kabarak home in Nakuru County.

Mr. Odinga was welcomed to the home by Gideon and a host of KANU leaders.

Days after the ODM party leader visited Mzee Moi, Deputy President William Ruto also made his way to Kabarak but he never got a chance to talk with the former President.
