A warning issued by Deputy President William Ruto to Kiambu leaders seems to have brought major transformation in the County’s top leadership.

After a crucial six-hour meeting held on Monday, Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, his deputy James Nyoro, Senator Kimani Wamatangi, Women Rep Gathoni Wamuchomba and 11 other MPs agreed to work together.

The meeting was convened by Senator Wamatangi at Jacaranda hotel in Westlands, Nairobi.

Serious leadership wrangles have been witnessed in Kiambu over the past few months with confrontations  playing out in front of DP Ruto.

DP Ruto threatened to whip the leaders noting that the disagreement among the leaders was an embarrassment to President Uhuru Kenyatta, as he hails from the County.

“I ask all leaders from this region to work together like brothers and sisters. You should not use all your energies to bring shame.

“I want you to remain a hardworking team. Do not bring shame to us. If you continue, I will come back with a whip. The boss asked me to keep on checking on you,” the DP said after Ms Wamuchomba and Governor Waititu exchanged bitter words during a meeting.

Wamuchomba accused Mr Waititu of belittling her.

At the same time, Mr. Nyoro is on record  accusing Governor Waititu of dictatorship in running County affairs.

“What has been happening in Kiambu is a one man show. There has not been any consultation between the governor and the county executive members and particularly the Deputy Governor.

“All the controversial issues that we’re having today including the so-called Alcoholic Bill and the implementation of it, I want to be told what cabinet memo was done in order to make that implementation,”  Mr Nyoro said.
