On the radar: US Undersecretary Uzra Zeya to address press

US Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Human Rights Uzra Zeya will hold a press conference today.

Zeya who is in the country on an official visit held a series of meetings Tuesday with Kenyan officials and discussed police operations.

She also met President William Ruto at State House Nairobi.

Officials said Zeya raised issues on police operations in the recent anti-government protests and in particular claims of abduction.

She is also said to have raised the issue of use of excessive force on the protesters.

Her visit also coincides with 26 years since the bombing of US embassy in Nairobi in 1998.

The presser will be held at the US Embassy in Nairobi at 3 pm.

Nane nane protests presser

Security bosses are set to issue a statement on the planned Nane Nane protests tomorrow (Thursday).

Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli met Tuesday top police commanders to among other things prepare for the protests.

It will be his first assignment since he was appointed.

PS Inyangala media address

Higher Education and Research Principal Secretary Beatrice Inyangala will address a press conference today.

The event has been set for the KICD at 10.30 am.

Olympic games

Kenya will be in action again today as they continue to chase for more medals.

Among the events lined up are the men’s 5,000m heats at 12pm and the men’s 800m heats.

At 10:40 pm, it will be the turn for Abraham Kibiwott, Amos Serem and Simon Kiprop as they compete in the 3,000m steeplechase final.
