Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday heaped praises on Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Boss Shollei for fearlessly standing with him during a tough political moment.

Speaking during an interdenominational service held in Kesses, Uasin Gishu County the DP narrated that Shollei once visited him in cell after he was arrested. The MP, according to Gachagua, brought him food and secured his release from cell.

He further stated that Shollei stayed with him throughout the episode until he was set free.

Additionally, the Deputy President requested Kesses constituents to rally behind Shollei describing her as an empathetic person who had the people’s best interests at heart.

“She is very empathetic, she stayed with me like a sister would stay with a brother, please take care of her,” Gachagua stated.

However, Gachagua did not disclose when this was and the circumstances that led to his arrest.

In addition to securing his release from cell, Gachagua relayed that the Shollei was also instrumental  in lobbying the Kenya Kwanza government to have Matharu residents adequately represented in the current administration.

The proclamation follows sentiments aired by a section of Rift Valley Kenya Kwanza leaders who threw their weight behind him on Saturday amid rumours of a fallout between President Ruto and Gachagua.

Speaking during a political function, Tinderet MP Julius Melly stated that Gachagua had been instrumental in securing Mt. Kenya votes for President Ruto and even faced arrest in his quest to have the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket win the 2022 presidential elections.

“The Deputy President stood with us during tough times, he was arrested for standing and supporting the President. We will stand behind you and the President. Feel comfortable knowing we will not go behind your back,” Melly remarked.

On the other hand, Jackson Mandago, the Uasin Gishu Senator backed the  Deputy president by requesting Mount Kenya leaders to shun politicking and push for development and unity within the Kenya Kwanza Coalition.

“What we should be doing is looking for the support of those who did not back the Kenya Kwanza government. My message to Mt Kenya leaders is that they should stop going to fish for what they already have in the basket,” Mandago stated.
