  • Husband to Lilian Waithera, National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF), staff killed in Nairobi Central Business District(CBD) spoke after the sudden death of his wife.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, February 15, Paul Mbogo stated that he was yet to come to terms with the demise of his loved one.

He described the late Waithera as a joyous person who was friendly with everyone and made no enemies. He dismissed claims that her late wife was heavily in debt.

“We are shocked by the news because she did not have any issue with anyone. At her job, she was so joyous even when interacting with her colleagues.

There is no reason to say that there was anyone who had been following her or she was indebted to,” he narrated with pain evident all over his face.

The late Waithera’s sister, Iddah Njeri, could not hold her tears as she eulogised the late Waithera as a warm-hearted person.

She noted that Waithera was generous and always ready to offer a helping hand to anyone, regardless of their background.

“Anyone who knew her will say she was an innocent soul. She would also help anyone who needed help despite their state. Anyone who knew her can attest to this,” uttered.

Waithera’s friend called on the directorate of criminal investigation (DCI) to conduct thorough investigations into the matter following the mysterious death.

“I wouldn’t say she had any enemy who would do this, we just hope it was a stray bullet. It was a shocker to hear that someone shot her. Clear more investigation should be done,” she noted.

An autopsy showed that Waithera had been shot moments earlier. She collapsed and died on Kaunda Street, with the Nairobi Central Business District.

Witnesses and police explained that Waithera complained of chest pain before collapsing on February 13, at about 5 PM.

Her colleagues who were with her called an ambulance, but the responders declared her dead at the scene.

She had walked from her place of work in Upper Hill and was headed home when she died.
