  • Sirisia Member of Parliament (MP) John Waluke emotionally thanked President William Ruto for standing with him while he was in prison.

The MP was speaking on Sunday, February 12, while attending an interdenominational church service, at Nakuru Athletics Club, Nakuru County.

In the event that was graced by the President, his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua, and other Kenya Kwanza politicians, Waluke revealed his biggest fear while in prison was that he would never interact with the Head of State.

“While I was away, I had missed you your Excellency, and the government. I thought I will never be able to interact with you again,” Waluke emotionally confessed.

He appreciated that he was able to get out of prison and be able to tag along with the President.

“I sincerely thank you for giving me the opportunity. I never knew I would get this chance again,” he revealed.

The Sirisia MP further assured the President that he will work with the government despite being elected under the Jubilee ticket.

“I want to work with the President and that is why we moved out of Jubilee and we promise to support every legislation the government moves in Parliament,” he assured Ruto.

Waluke was sentenced to jail in June 2020 after being found guilty of defrauding the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) Ksh297 million.

He was sentenced to 67 years in jail or pay a fine of Ksh2 billion.

After the sentencing, Waluke spent four months at Kamiti Maximum Security Prison.

He was released on bail after filing an appeal but re-arrested in October 2022 after High Court Judge Esther Maina dismissed his appeal.

The parliamentarian spent a month in prison and was released on November 18, 2022, on a Ksh10 million cash bail.
