A search operation has been launched for two people believed to have fallen into the Menengai Crater.
A report by The Standard indicates that the two had gone on a walk after attending prayers at Kirima-top Presbyterian Church of East Africa.
They had travelled from Kitale for Easter prayers at the church before they went missing.
Other worshippers, who had attended the prayer session, informed the police and locals about what had befallen the two.Â
Kenya Red Cross Nakuru Chairperson Njeri Muhia disclosed that the search team spotted one of the victims trapped on a tree branch. However, it was unclear whether he was dead or alive.
“Our team rushed to the site but only managed to trace one person. However, the rescuers could not get to him because of the steep nature of the crater,” she stated.Â
Muhia further stated that they had intensified efforts to resucu the man who had been spotted and find the other missing person.
The incident was confirmed by Bahati Police Commander Jacinta Muthoni who revealed that  they had sought help from their counterparts in Kitale locate the missing people.Â
She also asked visitors to be careful while walking or driving around the crater.Â
