Sonko Repossesses Grabbed Gigiri Land to Set Up Fire Station


Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Friday led an operation to repossess grabbed public land in Gigiri.

Sonko stormed a showroom which sits on grabbed general public land, declaring that it would henceforth act as a fire station.

He requested three county fireplace engines to be right away deployed and stationed at the spot.

The owner of the showroom, Goreti Gichuru, pleaded with the Governor to make it possible for them time to vacate the premises.

“Governor, I am ready to obey the law, but we are humbly requesting for a lot more time so that we can vacate this land,” she requested.


Sonko agreed to her request but asserted that the hearth engines would continue to be stationed there as the county worked to construct a modern-day hearth station on the land.

“This is a community property that was meant for a hearth station. From nowadays, we have reclaimed it back again and we shall have a contemporary fireplace station developed right here,” he declared.

Sonko reiterated his dedication to reclaiming grabbed community areas in Nairobi, specially expressing his displeasure at the the grabbing of university land.
