  • Nairobi County gubernatorial candidate, Johnson Sakaja, was moved by a letter penned by one of his adopted daughters, reflecting the tribulations he was subjected to in the past months.

    Sakaja has been going through a rough patch trying to prove the legitimacy of his academic qualifications while seeking the Independence Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) clearance to participate in the August 9 polls.

    The Nairobi Senator stated that he was motivated by the letter to never surrender but to rather continue making change and impacting lives.

    “This keeps me moving. To all my little ones out there that we are supporting through school, you motivate me to never give up. We will make it. I’ll never give up on you. I love you all,” he responded to the letter on Friday, July 8, 2022.

    In the letter, the daughter appreciated Sakaja for sponsoring his education, noting that she was striving to make him proud.

    An excerpt of the letter read;

    It’s my pleasure to tell you how I have been going on at school. I have been awesome even if I did not perform well as compared to my previous exams but God willing next time I will show you I’m good.

    You have made me a happy daughter and to be among your family. You are such a good father.

    I appreciate your care and giving me the fatherly love which I have lacked before.

    My family and I are praying that you may be our Governor and our leader.

    You are my role model.

    Early this year, Sakaja adopted a Form 2 girl, Lyons Wanjiru, and promised to settle her entire high school fees.

    “Lyons Wanjiru a brilliant young student from Githurai approached me during a campaign rally and requested assistance in paying her school fees.

    “I have adopted her as my daughter, paid her school fees, and will support her education,” Sakaja stated.
