The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced that it is migrating its servers to a new state-of-the-art data center.
In a statement seen by Kenyans.co.ke on Thursday, June 23, the authority announced that it is in the process of migrating to a new enterprise data centre.
In the process, some users of its online system may experience disruption in service delivery.
Once complete, the new system is expected to enhance efficiency, through better speeds and accessibility especially in a digital era.
“As part of our digital transformation strategy and service reform agenda, aimed at delivering high quality services and customer service excellence, the Authority is currently making a transition to a new enterprise data centre.
“We acknowledge the transition has occasioned slight disruptions to our clients and we are working round the clock to complete the process,” read the statement in part.
The acquisition of the new data center has been a years-long affair whose value still remains unknown.
The system will also aid in real-time road safety monitoring and reporting as the authority promotes safe data-driven driving practices across the country.
“Our goal is to ensure our clients enjoy same-day service delivery in registration, and transfer of motor vehicle ownership among other services upon completion of the migration process.
“Additionally, in implementation of our mandate, the data centre will facilitate real-time road safety monitoring and reporting to enable data-driven road transport and safety management,” added the statement.
This comes roughly a year after NTSA, in June 2021, deployed the revamped Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS) in response to client service demands, security and technological advancements.
The new system is touted to be faster, more integrated, simpler and easier to use, optimized, secure and with better reporting capabilities.
With the revamped TIMS platform, users are now able to track service application status online at their comfort.
