Son of freedom fighter Field Marshal Baimungi warned President Uhuru Kenyatta of a curse after failing to deliver on a promise of land compensation.

Wilson Kiremi Baimungi had sought Uhuru’s help in his quest to get compensation for their father’s artefacts at the National Museums of Kenya.

“There are things that Uhuru Kenyatta promised to compensate us. Our land was given by Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, the land is 12,700 acres and is located in Timau near Nanyuki.

“I remind Uhuru of the talks he had with my mum about delivering the promise and my mum passed on.
He should know that the curse is in their home,” warned the son of the freedom fighter.

Kiremi insisted that Mama Ngina Kenyatta was also present when the promise was made and is well aware of the land compensation matter.

The son of famous freedom fighter added that he would also like President Uhuru to facilitate compensations for historical artefacts.

“There are things he came with from the forest and he took them to Kinoru Stadium and were then taken by the National Museum.

“We were promised the artefacts would be compensated but up till today, nothing has been done,” pleaded Kirimi.

He also sought for help in identification of Baimungi’s grave at Meru Cemetery who died on Tuesday, 26 January 1965.

The incident comes just days after Kenya marked its 57th Madaraka Day celebrations which were a bit different compared others held previously owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Back in October 2019, the government established an agency to unearth property belonging to their forefathers and had them transferred to living persons in their families.

The main aim of the task force was to find out if any property or money belonging to the freedom fighters could be in the pockets of unscrupulous people.
