A section of Kenyans have been forced to wait longer to cast their vote following delays in the opening of various polling centres across the country as well as delays in the delivery of polling materials including KIEMS kits.
Among areas that have been affected by the delays include Westlands Primary School where voting had not started an hour after the stipulated time.
Additionally, voters in Moi Avenue Primary School, Nairobi forced their way into the polling station after IEBC officials failed to open the gates 40 minutes after the official opening time.
In the Coastal region, delays were also experienced in Mokomani and Shella wards, both in Lamu county.
IEBC on the other hand has explained that the delays were occasioned by the late distribution of the election materials.
