Abdullahi Bille, a KWS Officer, was arrested on Saturday in connection to the November 20 kidnapping of an Italian aid worker, Silvia Romano in Malindi.
This comes after Muslim clerics in Kilifi put pressure on the security personnel to give more updates on the operation to rescue the abducted Italian.
Speaking at Mkaomoto during Maulid celebrations on Wednesday, the leaders protested that the continuous delay in rescuing the Italian was affecting the economy.
Ganda MCA, Abdulrahman Mohamed, called on President Uhuru Kenyatta and Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet to come out and update the world about the rescue operation as it was hurting tourism in the region.
Earlier on Monday, three people, Rukia Nuno, Dumal Haji Osman and Hassan Borow Khamis, were arraigned in court but were not charged as police sought more time to complete investigations.
Rukia, who is wife to one of the gunmen, was arrested at Tarasaa in Garsen after police intercepted a phone conversation with her husband.
However, Osman and Khamis were arrested by police in a remote village in Garsen constituency, where a Toyota Fielder was also recovered in the forest.
Police disclosed that the village was deep in the forest and that a major multi-agency operation was underway to rescue Romano.
The Investigators nonetheless, believe that the abductors could be trying to cross into Somalia with the aid worker. They further stated that they would extend the search for Romano to Mombasa, Kilifi, Garrisa, Tana River and Somalia.
Romano was working as manager of African Milele Onlus, before she was kidnapped by gunmen in Chakama village, who also shot and injured five people, including a 10-year-old boy.
