The governor further explained that the project would take a period of two years to complete after the groundbreaking ceremony which will be held in November.

“The new 10-storey Sonko Pumwani Maternity Hospital which will stand side by side with the old hospital will compose of a paediatric ICU, an adult ICU, an HDU, staff quarters, laundry and all necessary facilities.

“The new Sonko Pumwani Hospital whose contract will be signed on 25/9/2018 and groundbreaking on 20/11/2018 is scheduled to be opened in the next two years and is expected to ease congestion at the old hospital,” Sonko’s statement outlined.
