A fire broke out inside popular nightclub,Tribeka Lounge in Nairobi on Monday afternoon.
According to reports, the fire broke out after an oil cooking fryer burst into flames forcing staff to evacuate the premises.
Firefighters from the Nairobi County responded and contained the fire before it could spread.
Eyewitnesses reported that the cooking fryer that uses electricity malfunctioned and they could not switch it off.
Tribeka Lounge “The oil in the cooker just kept on boiling. My colleague tried to switch it off but it could not go off. That is when we removed the socket from the main switch and it burst into flames,†a Chef at the restaurant stated.
By the time of press, the management had not determined the extent of the damage.
The Tribeka fire comes after another popular nightclub was razed down by a fire in 2017.
On the night of September 5, Casuarina Club which is owned by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko caught fire leading to the death of a 45-year-old man.
The club is one of many that dot part of Buruburu and is the only one affected.
Casurina Club Firefighters arrived at the scene of the incident when the fire had already been extinguished.
