Embakasi East MP Babu Ownio has opened up to a recent media report that he plans to spend Sh11 million to buy Kenyan Premier League football club Wazito FC.

On Monday, Babu did not deny the reports that he was interested in buying Wazito FC but added that it was not a priority at the moment.

The vocal politician was speaking during an interview with Citizen TV, a day after Nairobi News reported details of his alleged plans to buy the football club.

That is not a priority at the moment. I would rather use that money in helping my people including the footballers,” the MP stated.

In the extensive interview, Babu affirmed his plans to run for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in 2022.

I will not only vie to be Governor come 2022 but I will be the Nairobi Governor – I am sure because I know my history; from the university I have been a person who serves people religiously and spirited,” he asserted.

The legislator was, however, quick to state that he would extend support all the needed support to Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko until 2022.
